Green Beans Stew (Zöldbab Főzelék)

Ingredients:

  • 500 g green beans (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 200 ml milk or sour cream
  • 500–700 ml water or broth
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp vinegar or lemon juice (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil or butter in a pot and sauté the onion until soft.
  2. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add green beans and stir well.
  4. Pour in water or broth and simmer for 15–20 minutes until beans are tender.
  5. In a small bowl, mix flour with milk or sour cream until smooth.
  6. Stir this mixture into the pot to thicken the stew.
  7. Add paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  8. Cook for another 3–5 minutes until creamy.
  9. Add a little vinegar or lemon juice if you like a slight tang.
