🇭🇺 Hókifli (Christmas Walnut Crescent Cookies)

🧾 Ingredients

  • 250 g flour
  • 200 g butter (cold)
  • 100 g sour cream
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Pinch of salt

Filling:

  • 150 g ground walnuts
  • 80–100 g sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar (optional)

For coating:

  • Powdered sugar

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Mix flour, butter, sour cream, egg yolk, sugar, and salt into a soft dough.
  2. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Mix walnut filling ingredients until a thick paste forms.
  4. Roll dough thin and cut into triangles.
  5. Add filling and roll into crescent shapes.
  6. Bake at 180°C for 15–20 minutes (do not overbrown).
  7. Cool completely, then coat generously in powdered sugar.
