Almás (Hungarian Apple Dessert / Apple Filling)

Ingredients:

  • 4–5 apples (peeled and grated or chopped)
  • 2–3 tbsp sugar (to taste)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1–2 tbsp semolina or breadcrumbs (optional, to absorb juice)

Instructions:

  1. Peel and grate (or finely chop) the apples.
  2. Add sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  3. Let sit for 10 minutes so apples release juice.
  4. If too wet, add semolina or breadcrumbs to absorb extra liquid.
  5. Use as filling for cakes, strudel, or pastries.
