🥣 Hungarian Green Pea Soup (Zöldborsóleves)

Ingredients:

  • 300–400 g green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 potato, diced (optional)
  • 1 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1–1.2 L vegetable or chicken broth (or water)
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)
  • Fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil or butter in a pot and sauté the onion until soft.
  2. Add carrots (and potato if using) and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add green peas and pour in the broth. Bring to a boil.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and optional sugar.
  5. Simmer for 15–20 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  6. Add parsley, mix, and serve hot.
