Classic Hungarian Cucumber Salad (Uborkasaláta)

Ingredients:

  • 2–3 cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vinegar (white vinegar or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped or crushed
  • 100 ml water
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional, for topping)
  • Fresh dill (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Slice cucumbers very thinly.
  2. Sprinkle with salt and let sit for 10–15 minutes to release water.
  3. Squeeze out excess liquid from cucumbers.
  4. In a bowl, mix vinegar, water, sugar, and garlic.
  5. Add cucumbers and mix well.
  6. Let it chill for 15–30 minutes for better flavor.
  7. Sprinkle paprika and dill on top before serving (optional).
