🇭🇺 Hungarian Nut Cookies (Diós Sütemény)

🧾 Ingredients

  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 200 g ground walnuts
  • 200 g butter (softened)
  • 150 g sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Optional topping:

  • Powdered sugar
  • Apricot jam (for sandwiching)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and ground walnuts.
  2. Add butter, eggs, and vanilla. Knead into a soft dough.
  3. Chill for 20–30 minutes.
  4. Roll out dough and cut into shapes (or small rounds).
  5. Place on a baking tray.
  6. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.
  7. Let cool completely.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar or sandwich with apricot jam if desired.
