Hungarian Lángos

Ingredients:

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 7 g dry yeast (or 25 g fresh yeast)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 300 ml warm milk or water
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Extra oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix yeast, sugar, and warm milk (or water). Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and oil, then mix into a soft dough.
  4. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  6. Divide dough into small balls and flatten into discs.
  7. Heat oil in a pan and fry each piece until golden on both sides.
  8. Drain on paper towels.
