Hungarian Cabbage and Noodles

🇭🇺 Hungarian Cabbage and Noodles (Káposztás Tészta)

🧾 Ingredients

  • 300 g egg noodles (or wide pasta)
  • 1 small head cabbage (about 700 g), grated
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp oil or lard
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Cook noodles in salted water until tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a large pan and add sugar. Let it lightly caramelize.
  3. Add onion and cook until soft.
  4. Add grated cabbage and salt.
  5. Cook for 25–30 minutes, stirring, until cabbage is golden and caramelized.
  6. Season with plenty of black pepper.
  7. Mix cabbage with noodles and serve hot.
