Ingredients:
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 7 g dry yeast (or 25 g fresh yeast)
- 300 ml warm water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Oil for frying
Optional Toppings:
- Sour cream
- Grated cheese
- Minced garlic mixed with a little water
- Butter
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water. Let stand for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture and oil, then mix to form a soft dough.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into 6–8 portions and shape each into a flat round.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F).
- Fry each piece of dough for 1–2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels.
